Call for Entries

THE NEW ORLEANS FILM FESTIVAL 2010 CALL FOR ENTRIES. 

IMPORTANT DATES
Regular Deadline – Friday, March 5, 2010
Late Deadline – Friday, April 9, 2010
Notification of Acceptance – August 1, 2010
Screening copies in office – September 13, 2010
Festival dates – October 14-21, 2010

ELIGIBILITY REGULATIONS
Completion Date:
Entries must have been completed on or after January 1, 2009.
Presentation:
If your film is selected for screening, we must receive the final screening copy on HDCAM (1080i) or DigiBeta (NTSC only). HDCAM is the preferred digital format.
Language:
Foreign language films must be with English subtitles.
Prior Screenings:
Entries may not publicly screen in the greater New Orleans area or be televised anywhere in the US after July 1, 2010.
Prior Submissions:
Entries that have been previously submitted to the New Orleans Film Festival are not eligible. A version that has been re-edited or otherwise altered will not be eligible if it is substantially the same film.
Works In Progress:
Works in progress will not be accepted for consideration.
Louisiana Filmmaker Submissions:
Each year the NOFF gives an award to a Louisiana filmmaker–the director on the film being submitted who has also been a
resident of Louisiana for at least one year as of February 2009.

ENTRY REGULATIONS
Deadline:
All Entries must be shipped prepaid in a bubble-pack envelope. All entries must be postmarked by the deadline date for which you are paying.
Formats:
Entries must be submitted on DVD (NTSC Region 1 only). Do not put multiple films on the same DVD.
DVD Labeling & Shipping:
Preview DVDs must be clearly labeled with the film title,
running time, and contact information (including name, e-mail address and phone number).
Receipt Acknowledgment:
To receive acknowledgment of receipt of your entry, you must enclose a self-addressed stamped postcard with your entry.
Notification:
Films selected for screening will be notified no later than
August 1, 2010.

CATEGORIES
• Films must be entered into one category only.
• If the Festival determines that work has been entered in the wrong category, it will be reassigned and the entrant notified.

The categories are:
• Narrative Feature – Fiction films 40 minutes or more.
• Narrative Short – Fiction films 39 minutes or less.
• Documentary Feature – Non-fiction films 40 minutes or more.
• Documentary Short – Non-fiction films 39 minutes or less.
• Animation – Films of any length, animated by any means.
• Experimental – Films 30 minutes or less that explore new and creative uses of film and video, whether in technique, form or both.

AWARDS
Awards, plus prizes of cash, services or in-kind, will be given in the following categories;
• Narrative Feature
• Narrative Short
• Documentary Feature
• Documentary Short
• Animation
• Experimental
• Louisiana Filmmaker
